Multicast performs a two-way communication between two or more nodes. This allows for a single server or master device to communicate with many client or slave devices.

This allows for a single device to continually check on a series of devices on the network to ensure devices are receiving the correct information.
This proves beneficial when using protocols such as Simple network management protocol (SNMP) as it allows a server device to manage multiple client devices at one time thus, allowing it to act as a central management centre for the entire network.
